Stories told by the Lumineers
editorial design
The design uses motfis of blurring, transparency, and hole punches, to represent partial, scattered views into people's lives.
The Lumineers’ music is not musically complex, yet people are so drawn to it because of it’s simplitcity. Songwriter Jeremiah describes, “The ideas themselves are very simple ideas. Anyone who can play an instrument can play a Lumineers song.”
The simplicity of their songs informs the shape of the boxed set. Although it seems like a simple box, catalog, and CD sleeves, their materiality and layering are meant to bring an unassuming complexity. The albums fold open up to emulate opening up layers of peoples’ complex lives.
